Hull lines design is one of the basic problems in ship design process. In order to solve some problems existed in ship design software, a software system of ship hull lines modeling is developed based on Non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS) in this paper,it can generate the shipform directly from the offsets.The status of current hull lines design and B-Spline are summarized in this dissertation. Connecting the newest development in computer application and B-Spline mathematics, this dissertation puts forward the methods of hull lines design. The detailed methods to solve the problem are formed in this dissertation refer to the current popular softwares.International Standard Organization(ISO) printed STIEP that the standard about industry product data exchange in 1991, which took NURBS as the only mathematic method to define the geometric forms of industry product.The dissertation applies NURBS to hull lines and surface expression and design, fits three-dimensional hull surface with skinning method.On the basis of the model reform ,the program processed the surface gridding plot to make the pre-process of the computational fluid dynamics software.Two methods,imitation transformation and shipform transformation for designing waterline,are adopted to gernerate new shipform,and made a high precision calculation of hydrostatic based on B-Spline theory.The software system of this dissertation is developed based on Windows XP,MFC of VC++6.0 and the Application Programming Interface OpenGL. So it hasfriendly interface and classic windows style. It has high speed and fine effect ofgraph display by using OpenGL as its API.
