The steel cable is an important strained component. The stress inspection of steel cable, and the judgment and analysis of health status of steel cable is an unresolved but desiderated problem in engineering field. The inspection based on the magneto-elastic is a long life, high precision and low cost method. In the long term, it is a potential method. This method is still in research because signal pick-up and procession is difficult. In addition, the lack of experiment data and flexibility inspection system is another reason.This paper outspreads research work from system hardware composing and signal procession, and refers to study work as follow:i. Based on the magneto-elastic effect, the philosophy of measurement wirerope cable tension is analyzed.ii. According to actual demand, magnetic circuit is designed in this paper, iii. Not only AC exciting circuit and impulse exciting circuit are designedand analyzed, but also flexible exciting circuit is built, iv. Based on hardware platform, many data processing methods is broughtforward, and the corresponding filter is designed, v. Temperature and stress experiment of magneto-elastic are completed, andbased on experimental result, improvement project is brought forward. Through a lot of experiment data analysis, this system is able to realize cable tension inspection of steel cable, reach the expected demand.
