In this paper, improving the spatial utilizing rate of pallet and reducing the cost of the pallet package, a study of pallet package of rigid (or quasi-rigid) rectangular products, has been made. An optimal mathematical model and a genetic algorithm have been obtained by studying of optimal design of pallet package based on genetic algorithm. With the technique of Visual C++, a system of pallet package which can perform efficiently has been developed according to national standards of pallet for through transport and conditions of transport and storage.In the system of optimal design of pallet package, national standards of pallet for through transport, the structure parameter of corrugating box, some standards concerning vehicle dimensions and dimensions of rigid (or quasi-rigid) rectangular package are embodied. Firstly User can input information into dialog boxes, the optimal design of pallet package may be obtained rapidly.For the research on spatial utilizing rate of pallet in pallet package, a mathematical model for optimizing is present, and genetic algorithm is adopted during the optimizing procedure, and a better result is gained. The mathematical model and genetic algorithm offer a new idea and method for design of transport package.
