In this thesis, the movement characteristics of flow and sediment, present situation of waterway, the history of the navigation regulation and the effect of human activities in the lower reach of Dongjiang River were researched. The methods for calculating the lowest designed navigation water level due to the effect of sand-digging were discussed. Based on the series of discharge at Boluo station, a new method was presented to calculate the lowest designed navigation discharge. Then, the lowest designed navigation water level of some year can be obtained through the relative curve line of H~Q.Based on St.venant equations, an unsteady 1-D numerical model of river network was established to analysis the effect of navigation regulation works. The linear four-point implicit Preissmann scheme was used to discrete the government equations. The water levels and velocities of different engineering projects from Huizhou to Tangongmiao reach of Dongjiang River were simulated under the lowest designed navigation discharge and regulation discharge. With the results of simulation, the change of water level, velocity and navigation water depth were analyzed. In addition, the evaluation of different engineering project of navigation works was conducted.
