Regulation water level and regulation width of channel regulation engineering are two importants technical parameters in alluvial river, and the key to success of shoal regulation. This paper analyzes the reasons forming the shoal and the factors influencing the shoal evolution, and reviews the literature on the calculation methods of the two parameters in progress. The 2-D suspend mathematical model established in this paper is adopted in straight reach, on the basis of model similarity, a general research on the scouring processes of navigable channel caused by various regulation water levels and regulation widths has been carried out to find out the influence of two parameters to the scouring. And a preliminary analysis is given from the angle of the velocity changes before and after regulation project.The computed result indicates that, when regulation width certain, the regulation water level is higher, scour time lasted longer, the shoal scour depth is higher. Along with the regulation water level gradually run-up, the shoal scour change scope is not bigger; when regulation water level certain, the regulation width is higher, scour intensity is bigger, the shoal scour depth is higher. Along with the regulation width gradually reduction, the shoal scour change scope is bigger.The result also indicated that, the regulation water level and the regulation width affects mutually, restricts mutually. The regulation water level is higher, the effect on scour depth of riverbed because of the regulation width changed is bigger; The regulation width is smaller, the effect on scour depth of riverbed because of the regulation water level changed is bigger. And the relations between the rates of cross widths and cross average depths before and after the regulation projiects, the regulation width formula suiting the studies reach is obtained.
