Haikou project is a key project in the end of waterway to ocean. Its design directly effect on the safe operation of waterway. However, the scouring has been found in the downstream channel of Haikou sluice. It is necessary to study the scouring and preventing measures for Haikou sluice.In this thesis, based on the results of field measuring, theory analysis and model test, the scouring patterns and preventing measures have been investigated.The main contents include:(1) the scouring patterns were mainly bed scour behind erosion control trench, scour by recircling flow nearby the abutment wall and scour due to the by-pass flow around guide dike.(2) the experimental results showed that the flow fluctuation value around riprap was larger than other flow, which resulted in the development of bed scour and increase of stone movement. When the thickness of riprap was not enough to protecting bed and slope of dike, the riprap of protection of slope would avalanche.(3) the protecting measures should pay more attention to the protecting base of revetment of slope. By comparing alternative measures and considering field conditions of Haikou sluice, the pre-riprap of protection was proposed.(4) On the base of theory analyses, the number of pre-riprap of protection has been computed, and the moving distance of stone has been developed.
