The multistage pumping stations have characteristics of high head and great energy consumption, so it is economical to make multistage pumping stations operate in optimization. Genetic Algorithms (GA) is a kind of optimal method to simulate the genetic and evolutional progress of the nature. GA is better than the classical optimal arithmetic in the aspect of conducting the economical operation of multistage pumping stations. The classical optimal arithmetic demands that the characteristic curves of pumping units must be discrete and the function's derivate. GA needn't these demands. It can begin to optimize with multi-initial points aimed at objectives directly. It is capable of obtaining the global optimization solution.Based on the extensively reading of relating articles at home and abroad, the author discusses the basic principle on optimization operation of multistage pumping stations. And combining with some kinds of optimal algorithms, the author builds optimal models. By comparing the results, the feasibility and applicability of different algorithms are analyzed, and the most useful and efficient algorithms for the pumping stations with the pumps of adjustable rotational speed and blade angle are found and improved, namely, the Genetic Algorithm designed by the writer. What's more, using the language of Visual Basic and Fortran, the author exploits and designs the optimization operation software system of pumping stations with the Genetic Algorithm designed successfully. With the help of the software system, the managers can always make the pumping station run with high efficient, and it is very convenient. Moreover, the optimization operation software system is an opening system, it's data can be initialized based on different pumping stations, and also can be modified, added and deleted according to the altering of the sets of multistage pumping stations, so to reassure the validity and veracity of the optimization operation. In the end, the author summarizes the research results and analyzes the deficiency of this dissertation and the software system. Some topics and problems are discussed, which need to study further, to establish the further research target.
