Facing the challenges of oil shortage and air pollution, Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) becomes one of the main clean vehicles. And it is on the list of National Electric Vehicle Key Projects of the Tenth-Five Plan and 863 hi-tech Program. In this dissertation, with parallel hybrid electric transit bus XD6120HEV as the main research subject, the hybrid power drive system (HPDS), the multi-energy powertrain control system, the power control strategy, modeling, simulation and test are studied and analyzed. Firstly, based on the control mission, its HPDS model is set up. The working conditions and performance requirements of the most important models including engine, motor and battery are analyzed. Also the parameters matching of the HPDS for XD6120HEV are studied. Through analysis of the energy flow of the HPDS on various working modes, a torque control strategy is put forward. The most important control variable of this strategy is the torque. According to total request torque of driver and the engine MAP, the strategy determines the working state of the HPDS and the goal torque of the engine and the motor. And the coordinated control issue of the HPDS is also studied. Then, the multi-energy control system of XD6120HEV based on CAN bus is designed. Also the application of CAN bus in the control system of HEV is analyzed and the overall setup of the software and the hardware are presented in detail. At last, according to several typical road cycles, the torque control strategy for XD6120HEV is simulated and analyzed with ADVISOR software in order to validate its correctness and practicability. The field performance test of the bus prototype is also carried out in Xiangfan National Vehicle Test Field. Experimental results show that the designed control system is rational and reliable, the test bus has excellent vehicle dynamic characteristics and fuel economy, and the anticipated design targets are reached.
