The technology of CAD —Computer Aided Design, is the new scientific field quickly developed in recent decades. Computer simulation is an important part of CAD application. With the urge to modernize the design method of refrigeration and air-conditioning system in recent years, lots of domestic and abroad experts and scholars have bent themselves to the research of simulation on refrigeration and air-conditioning system. At present, the simulation method used by the domestic scholars is to analyze the system and establish the mathematical model by passing functions based on the theory of control. However, this paper is to do the research of simulation on refrigeration and air-conditioning system from the viewpoint of developing a complete refrigeration CAD system. I hope to find out a practical method to develop the simulation program, hence provide support and service to the design of refrigeration and air-conditioning product in a wider range and higher level. This paper has presented and studied the application of IDEF in the simulation on refrigeration and air-conditioning system. I use the theory of information and try to use IDEF to analyze the system, and present the structure of two-step model. Step one, use IDEF to analyze and design the whole system, then establish the unitary function models and use ICOM table to manage all flowing data in the system. Step two, down to each part of the system, first make analysis and some assumptions, then combined them with mathematical descriptions and establish the information model, finally we set up the simulation sub-model with detailed arithmetic is given, and develop simulation software with VB6.0 to realize the purpose of simulation. Otherwise, I compare simulation result with experimental data and validate the reliability of our model. At the same time I use a good method to make optimization of heat exchanger and analyze the result. At last I think I can embed the whole simulation and optimization program into a complete CAD system, and make the CAD system work well to improve the design quality and efficiency of refrigeration and air-conditioning products.
