Gearing is perhaps one of the most critical components in power transmission systems and the transmission error of gears in mesh is considered to be one of the main causes of gear noise and vibration. The object of this paper is to bring forward ideal profile modification curves to decrease the noise and vibration of bevel gear which is one of the accessories of differential. Understanding and mastering the meshing characteristic of bevel gear, including the combined stiffness, transmission error and the deformation detail of contact zone, is vital for gaining ideal profile modification curves. The analysis model of gear system can be sorted into physical parameter analysis model and mode parameter analysis model. Recently, based on the physical parameter analysis model, the main studied method about the gear system can be sorted into three kinds: numerical method, physical test method and the finite element method. FEM is considered to be the most advanced skill, which can greatly make up the numerical method's shortage and also can decrease the cost and shorten the time if physical test is used. This thesis conclude the investigation method and their come out on the aim of decrease the noise and vibration of gear system. The classical Hertz theory and the finite element method have also been compared here. The ANSYS FEM software is used here to simulate the contact problem of gears'meshing course. The method of using APDL language to create the bevel gear's solid model has been brought out in this paper. The solid model are divided into some parts in order to come over the conundrum that the entire solid model came down from CAD software can not be mesh using hexahedron elements. The boundary condition and constrain method of gear meshing course have been given. The incorporate method of "gear modeling-contact simulation-profile optimized"has been brought out in this thesis. The disadvantage of traditional method to calculate combined stiffness of gears in the double meshing zone has been discussed here. The correct method to calculate such stiffness has been brought out and the formula has been given. By analysis the detail contact communication of gear meshing, the characteristic of gear contacting has been gained. After studying the deformation of gear, the crown-gear modification quantum has been given. The course of incorporate method of profile optimization has been put forward.
