With the deeply development of the distribution power network automation, the identification of the single-phase-to-ground fault in the distribution powernetwork been paid more and more attention. After analyzing the characteristics ofthe existing methods about identifying the faulted line in the non-solidly earthednetwork, the characteristics of the phase space between the system's zero-sequencevoltage and the lines' zero-sequence current, the harmonic distortion, and thephase-angle characteristic are analyzed deeply and a new method using synthesismethod and weight coefficient to determine the faulted line is presented. It can beapplied to the neutral point non-solidly earthed system including the neutral pointunearthed or through big resistance earthed system and the neutral point through arcsuppression coil earthed system (ASC) and determine the fault line accurately evenwhen intermittent arc earth faults occur. Simulations of various earth faults underdifferent conditions are performed using MATLAB. The result of the methods isfeasible and effective.
