Steel radial gate is one kind of steel gates the most widely applied in hydraulic structures. Radial gate is widely used in hydraulic structures owing to its following advantages: less lifting force, simple structure, convenient operation, without gate grooves, and so on. In the process of practical operation of radial gates, the vibration of radial gates often occurs in the following situations: when radial gate is being opened or closed or part-opened, and sometimes even under the completely closed condition. Under some situations, the vibration of radial gate is so serious that the dynamic failures of radial gates or dynamic instability of some gate components may happen. Therefore, the dynamic problems of radial gates have been being the important problems that should be solved in the design and practical operation of radial gates.This paper has mainly researched the dynamic properties and the dynamic stability of radial gates. First, the dynamic failures situation of radial gates are investigated and analyzed widely and thoroughly. The reasons of gate dynamic failures are analyzed and dynamic analysis methods are put forward. Then, this paper introduces the principle and method of finite element dynamic analysis of spatial composite structure like radial gates which are composed by steel plates, beams, bars and so on. On the above basis, the dynamic properties of radial gates(consider liquid —solid coupling) is analyzed by ANSYS program in this paper. Through the finite element analysis, the variational rule of natural vibration properties along with opening and liquid—solid coupling affecting the natural vibration properties of radial gates are known.Farther, this paper also analyses the dynamic stability of bracket truss under simple loads. The rules of the frequency characteristics of external loads affecting structure's dynamic stability are obtained, the feasibility of dynamic failures rule is appraised, it will provide important foundation for thorough research of steel radial gate's dynamic stability.Furthermore, this paper analyses the dynamic stability of radial gates, the dynamic stability carrying capacity of steel radial gate under different opening were obtained, the whole process of the gate's dynamic property changes along with the frequency and scope of dynamic hydraulic pressure were understood .Therefore, it will provide scientific basis for improving the dynamic stability of radial gates and rational design of radial gate structure.
