As a new product development method, virtual prototype technology has an important significance to increase product quality and decrease its cost. In the factors of affecting the interior performance of a whole prototype, the whole structural characteristics including static, dynamic and thermal performances are the key index. So, the prediction and modification of the characteristics of a whole mechanical structure at its design stage must be performed when its function is satisfied. BEM is the key method of settling the problem. Therefore, BEM has an advantage in dealing with a rigid or flexible joint, its application in modeling and analysis of mechanical system plays an important part.According to the above reasons, this paper deals with the modeling and analysis of static characteristics of a whole mechanical structure including thin plate by using DBEM. The paper deduces the static characteristics formulas of the thin plate plane stress problem, plate bending problem, plate with inside supports bending problem and Two-parameter elastic foundation plate problem by using DBEM. Meanwhile, the paper discusses the distortion of the thin plate acting on the whole loads. Based on the above theories and taking advantage of the above formulas, the corresponding programmers are programmed using MATLAB language. By comparing the test solution with numerical solution given by the finite element method, it is proved that the analytic model, the analytical methods and the programs are right, and the BEM model has the great potential in the analysis of structure characteristics of machine tool.
