Nowadays, the technology of hydraulic engineering asphalt antiseepage watertight is developed rapidly in the world. The face plate of asphaltic concrete constructed in the northern area of our country has appeared different extent thermal cracking due to various reasons, which affected the productive benefit and secure operation of water conservancy hinge more or less. In this paper, we study and sumerize the compensating sevo electromotor compensating asphaltic concrete freezing test system which researched and manufactured by our university and give an upgrade and improvement for it so as to make it meet the needs of projection and scientific research in every aspects. In the basis of referring the fixation quarts frame freezing system of Japan, we introduce the material compensating fixation frame testing method. Like the sevo electromotor compensating asphaltic concrete freezing test system, the material compensating fixation frame freezing system also adopt the Zero Position theory. That is, during the process of reducing temperature, because of the different resources of test-bed, it will produce different amount of contraction which canceled out so as to keep the original length of the test sample. We compare and contrast the data and results of the test using the asphaltic concrete of the same mix proportion between the two freezing system of the sevo electromotor compensating and the material compensating fixation frame. We can find the shortage of the latter and modify them immediately. The purpose is to use its advanges of small volume, easy operation and convenience to carry the study of the behavior of asphaltic concrete under low temperature. Combinating our testing equipment, we have studied the behavior of asphaltic concrete under low temperature. The results are follows: (1) Within the given asphalitic content, the change of the asphalitic content did not have the remarkable effects on freezing temperature. (2) The improved asphalt has a remarkable effects on freezing temperature. But the freezing temperature of AH-70 and AH-90 do not have remarkable difference.
