Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is a very important developmental direction of high performance concrete. Higher quality cement and lower water cement ratio are needed in high strength concrete. In order to improve other performance of high strength concrete admixture and mineral fillers are needed. So it is different from normal concrete in development of early age performance and durability.Early age performance of self-compact concrete is tested in this paper. Some workability testing methods are valued. Factors influencing mechanical property and workability are summarized. Early age strength and early age elastic modulus are tested. Shrinkage test methods are valued, and special device is invented for testing early shrinkage of SCC. Free shrinkage and passive constraint shrinkage and the relationship between age and interior humidity relation are tested with this device. Shrinkage theory and factors influencing shrinkage of SCC are analyzed systematically. The calculation method of restriction shrinkage stress and the determination methods of some calculation parameters are studied. This paper can be as reference for development and use of SCC, and it offers test method and theory basic for deep research.
