High-rise steel structure with character: high, light and flexible, often sways hard under wind loads, causing that the need of structure's stiffness and comfort can not be met, and even resulting in structure's being destroyed ,so the wind-induced vibration should be controlled. At present, searching a kind of new control, which is economical, practical, efficient, doing without outside energy, and forming the correlative theories and methods have became more necessary. As a kind of new smart material, Shape Memory Alloys (SMA), for their specific properties of shape memory and super elasticity, have been paid much attention in the field of structural vibration control. In this dissertation, using Shape Memory Alloys' property of super elasticity, high-rise steel structure's vibration under wind was controlled, and the SMA cable's optimized setting method was brings forward, which has great significance in theory and substantial value in engineering. The key developments and creative achievements are contained in this dissertation as follows:(l)Through the load-unload experiment, the SMA's material parameters were gained, and the rational constitutive relation was chosen. According to the random vibration theories, computer programs were made to simulate the pulsating wind load. And the vibration control equation and method of numerical analysis are built based on the finite element theory and the super elasticity of SMA material.(2)According to the passive control's transfer-function algorithm and high-rise steel structure's deforming character, the optimized setting scheme of passive control using SMA cables was designed. And through the time-history analysis on structure's wind-induced vibration with finite element analysis software: ANSYS 8.0, the optimizing scheme was proved applicable. Then the relative rule about wind-induced vibration control was concluded.(3)Through the comparison between the results according to 《Technical Specification for Steel Structure of Tall Buildings》 (JGJ 99-98 ) and the time-history analysis, the simulated pulsating wind loads were adjusted. And according to the optimizing scheme and the relative theories on high-rise buildings' comfort level, the method was given, using SMA cables to control high-rise steel structures' wind-induced vibration to meet the need of comfort level in the code.
