With the improvement of the living standard in our country, the incidence of arterous stenostic and dilative diseases are increasing steadily and the demands of traditional textile vascular and endovascular are increasing. Since the products are developed in our country have not used in clinic successfully, the requirements depend on the suppliers in the developed countries so far. Many elements restrict the exploitation of vascular prostheses in our country. One of the astriction maybe is the lack of a research on the biomechanical performance for vascular prostheses and the reasonable test methods.The research in this paper is one part of the subject on "characterization of biomechanical performance for vascular prosthesis". The characterizations of the endovascular's abrasion and the relative test methods have been established. The abrasion property is one of the important characterization indexes of the endovascular. We designed and manufactured the endovascular's abrasion test instrument based on the ISO 25539-1. Referring to this instrument, one patent has been applied (No. 200510110636.2).Through plentiful experiment and statistic analysis, the test data of each sample accord with the normal distribution, and the number of sample has been decided for each test to reduce the random error. The measuring performance and the measuringprocedure of the instrument were studied and the manipulating was given in detail.Furthermore, suitable samples were selected and measured for their abrasion property and each related influencing factor. Through the synthetic analysis of the measuring data, a conclusion was given that the fabric cover and the weight of fabrics have a great effect on the abrasion performance of the endovascular.In conclusion, in this paper the characterized index of the endovascular's abrasion was established. Meanwhile, the endovascular's abrasion test instrument was designed and manufactured. The optimal measuring method was obtained through experiment research. Based on which, one Chinese patent was applied.The test instrument can be used for the abrasion performance to give advice for the textile design and to evaluate if the products can be implanted into human body directly. The conclusions obtained in this paper can supply the laboratory groundwork for the foundation of the theories of endovascular's design.
