In order to satisfy the engineering performance and utilize resource frugally, the optimum design scheme is researched in engineering system such as airplane system, satellite system, automobile system and so on. In optimizing design, there are some contradictions amongst every object of the system;the main object of system and the object of subsystem also have some contraventions as well as the object of every subsystem. Because of those problems, the optimum allocation of the main system cannot be achieved by optimizing every single subsystem;That is to say, the connection of simple optimization is unequal to the complex optimization. Aimed at the favorable optimization of main system, the design of engineering system must be carried out by means of Coordination method. So the design of main engineering system is generally attributable to optimum allocation. The optimum allocation problem can be said that how to distribute design requirements such as the cost, the weight and the reliability to every subsystem in reason.This paper introduced direct method, decomposition-coordination method, and collaboration allocation method respectively to realize the said problem. We also illuminated the principle of each method, and listed corresponding mathematical model as well as basic solution process. Among them, the collaboration allocation method is a new one to settle the optimum allocation problem in view of multidisciplinary collaborative optimization, which analyzed the optimum allocation problem to the optimization of main system and the optimization of subsystem. The design requirements of main system allocated to the subsystem reasonably, and the subsystem do their best to be familiar with the design requirements of main system allocated to them. At the same time, the subsystem allocated requirements to the bottom component accurately. Finally, the optimum allocation resultant can be obtained by coordinating distribution ceaselessly, which used the simultaneous restriction between the main system and the subsystem. The collaboration allocationmethod can make up the shortage of decomposition-coordination method when solve the optimum allocation problem to the large-scale system. It was proved that collaboration allocation method is fit for solve the optimum allocation problem.In conclusion, this paper solved several example separately using three methods above, by comparing the results, we can say that the collaboration allocation method is an effectiveness of the proposed method.
