Research On Surface Model CAD Reconstruction Technology In Body Reverse Design

Reverse engineering application in the vehicle body CAD which is mostly reconstruction to body surface styling and vehicle accessory solid model, is applied in body design, structure analysis and accessory mould manufacture etc. So it is extremely significance that CAD model reconstruction in body reverse design. In the paper, basing on reverse engineering, the study was done further to reconstruction techniques improvement and application of body surface model.Surface reconstruction of body reverse design process is one important part of techniques of modern vehicle body design, which comprises synthesized various techniques, such as the data measurement, the surface styling and CAD modeling and so on. Through the more understanding to mathematics models of curve and surface, to make for choosing the right modeling ways and to enhance efficiency of model reconstruction.Emphases on studying key techniques in body reverse design: the digitalization of complex surface, pre-processing of point cloud data, and modeling of surface and the extraction of feature surface. In the paper, it is analyzed that the fundamental theory of digitalized measurement technique, including its typical equipment and technical features. The layout of body measurement paths and apartness of point cloud data are attempted for new study. Discussing the pre-processing of scanning beam and scatter point cloud data, the automatic or interactive filtering techniques and random sample or grid condensability of point cloud data are explained, and a pre-processing method having actual effect is summarized.Through research on former model reconstruction techniques, they are brought forward that surface model reconstruction techniques basing on section feature curves, feature surfaces. Basing on studies hereinbefore and researching on practical development and design process of the heavy truck cab and a concept car, the vehicle body surface model reconstruction is done with software UG NX and Imageware of the UGS Corporation. That has validated utility-value of study outcome about surface reconstruction in body reverse design.
