The operating principle of cascaded multilevel converter is analyzed and an experi-ment platform based on DSP control is developed in this paper. Compatible with thespecial character of cascaded multilevel circuit, a control algorithm that combines thedual sinusoidal pulse width modulation (DS-PWM) technique and the phase-shiftingsinusoidal pulse width modulation (PS-SPWM) technique is applied and the control oftwo-cell cascaded inverter with this algorithm has been realized based on the digitalsignal processor TMS320F2812. Arbitrary waveform generation with PWM controlmethod is researched;the simulation analysis and the experiment results prove that thismethod is feasible. The parameter choice formulae applied to the output filter ofcascaded multilevel converter is obtained based on the theoretical analysis andsimulation research, which can direct the output filter design in the practice. The resultsof experiments approve that the hardware platform and its control strategy are useful,can satisfy the requirement of further research.
