In all of sense organs, the information provided by eyes accounts for the large proportion, but the quality of lighting environment designing determines the entire environment receptivity for vision. The lighting environment design should not only be localized on the explanation of simple physical question, but also must consider of the subjective feeling aspect of people. The scholars of environment behavior science have researched on person's subjective feeling aspect, and formed a series of mature theoretical models. This article explores the intrinsic relation between human behavior and surrounding from the combination of subjective and objective, thus establishes one kind of theory and method in designing and researching. The research of applying some mature theory in the environment behavior to the building lighting environment allows us to understand the whole process of light rolling in the space, and through the feeling, consciousness and awareness, forming the judgments and evaluation of overall lighting environment, ultimately impacting on human behaviors. Understanding the intrinsic relation of light, space and behavior, we can study on the light environment with methods of environmental behavioral research, and overcome the present question of value quantification target in the lighting environment. In the article, the lighting environment of public space of campus is researched finally by taking the restaurant as the example with environment behavior science, the subjective appraisal of user focusing on lighting environment was tested by Likert Scale, and the project of improving the optical environment is suggested based on analyzing activity, demand as well as psychological characteristic and visual environment of people in buildings.
