Special shaped R.C. columns have been used widely in civil engineering field in recent years on account of their superiority. Therefore there is a necessity to develop special software to design and analyze this kind of structure. In the paper, an analysis software for the reinforcement of the special—shaped columns is compiled under the Windows and the Linux. The software can be used easily for the calculation of element bearing capacity with arbitrary L-shaped, T-shaped, +-shaped, Z-shaped cross-section subjected to axial compression and biaxial bending. According to generating finite element model by meshing for special-shaped section columns, the calculation of column reinforcement is solved by coordinate transformation and digital iteration methods. The iterative number to find the neural axis is obviously reduced. By this method, the programs are developed, which can satisfy the accuracy of the engineering as well. Simultaneously, the variation regularity of L-shaped, T-shaped, + -shaped, Z-shaped cross-section columns for different cross-sections, loading angles, compression ratios and materials is obtained. Based on the numerical analysis, a number of design suggestions for design are also proposed.
