In nowadays, the span and size of arch bridge is getting larger and larger. The key problem to the enlargement of the span is the method of construction. In recent years, the method of cable construction is being widely used in the construction of arched bridge. It can help the bridge to reach a larger span. It helps to ease the horizontal and vertical transportation. And this method won't be restricted by site and landform.This article introduces the feature and theory of several commonly-used methods of geometric nonlinear finite element analysis. In this article, the method of CR aligned formula is used to reduce the amount of calculation and accelerate convergence. The theory of bar, beam and cable used in the finite element analysis of unsupported built cable-tower system has been discussed. On the basis of the construction of Qiandao Lake Bridge and the theory of finite element, an analysis program to control the construction of cable-tower system is invented according to its feature. The program helps to raise the efficiency of solution, work out a fast solution of linear system of equation and the design of basic factor in finite element analysis, to dispose the slipping and the change of tangent point in the saddle of cable element. The program is used to analyze the sag and tension of the main cable, the load on the top of the tower, the slipping and the change of tangent point in the saddle of cable, the horizontal displacement on the top of the tower. Moreover, it's used to analyze the temperature influence on the horizontal displacement on the top of the tower. The software ANSYS was finally used to analyze the resistance capacity of the tower, including plane static analysis and space stabilization, both of which can meet the requirement of the construction.This article will perfect the theory of the unsupported cable-tower system, help the project personnel to carry out the construction of unsupported cable-tower system, and gain a useful conclusion which has important referential value to engineering design.
