With the Concrete Faced Rock-fill dam (CFRD) about 200m in height appearing, the further development of CFRD faces many new challenges. Presently, the difficulty and hot issue of study on CFRD are creep of dam body materials and the void of CFRD. In this paper, based on characteristics of CFRD, the void of CFRD is further studied by back analysis of parameters, with contact mechanics method. The main contents are as fellows:(1) The constitutive models and creep of rock-fill material are studied. Then ,the MSC.Marc is programmed secondly by user subroutines of Duncan E-B model and three parameters creep model, for construct simulation with step-by-step loading.(2) In according to the characteristics of back analysis of CFRD, based on the in-situ data, the model of evolutionary algorithm and artificial neural network is established. The method and steps of establishment are given in detail.(3) Based on the analysis of the characteristics of void of CFRD and the method of interface element, the contact characteristics between concrete face and dam body is simulated by MSC.Marc. In addition, the contact mechanism analysis method of void of CFRD is studied with direct constraints algorithm.(4) Applying the theories and methods presented in this thesis, the void phenomenon of Tianshengqiao CFRD is analyzed with FEM method. The results testified by in-situ data. The possible reason for void of CFRD, the prevention measure and treatment are discussed.
