The composite foundation is natural foundation whose soil is partly consolidated or replaced in process of ground treatment. The consolidated part is made up of the inartificial soil and reinforced material. Since the 1990s, researches on composite foundation soil have made great progress. It is realized in the academe that "soil strength is a kind of resource and should be put into use." The CM composite foundation is a kind of new type composite ground based on working principle, cushion effect, stress-passing characteristic and stress analysis of the single pile foundation. The CM composite foundation is made up of rigid pile, flexible pile, soil and gravel cushion. Rigid pile is crossed over flexible pile and added gravel cushion on the top of the pile, which form optimized plane and space gradient and rigidity. It is this three dimensional high-strength composite soil that make its intensity is much higher than its bearing capacity, and the intensity of the whole foundation will be increased greatly.The working principle and application of the composite foundation soil are studied .The following is included:1. The analysis of working principle of the composite foundation.2. Deducing calculation of the intensity and deformation of the composite foundation.3. Combined with examples of project, the applicability, the construction and the detection process of the composite foundation are discussed.4. The conclusions and prospects of composite foundation are drawn from the studies of it.
