Studies On Leisure Function Of Urban Landscape

Leisure, a footloose life, is the symbol of civilization. The ideal of leisure is to pursue the magnificent harmony between man and nature, it can relax feelings andedify sentiment. Landscape------man's second nature is an ideal leisure place and isimportant to man's leisure life. Study on leisure function of urban landscape will have great meanings on reality.Mankind has a long history in landscape activity, but less in the study on leisure function of urban landscape from designing theory. The development of society has a great influence on people's leisure life. Urbanization, informatization, aging of population, cultural diversity and environment problems have put forward new requests to the leisure function of urban landscape. This thesis carried on an over all research of leisure function of urban landscape, Hangzhou as the case.Hangzhou landscape has great leisure characteristic. This thesis took Prince-gulf Park, Mount Wu Square, Lotus Park, Yanan Road and Lakefront Park as example, made surveys of their service scope, traffic condition, function area, plant scenery, establishment, landscape feature, cultural feature and resource utilize. Inquired citizens about their leisure time, reasons, contents and satisfaction in urban landscape by questionnaires. Then analysed successes and problems of these parks in meeting people's needs, combined the related theories of environmental psychology and environmental behaviors and put forward design guidelines.This thesis studied the typical urban landscape of city park, city square, residential district landscape, street landscape and waterfront landscape to meet people's leisure needs in scenery, ecology, culture and function, all the design guidelines put forward are based on human-oriented. As to specific design, it should emphasize to the combination of scenery and function, buid landscape leisure place with nice ecology environment and rich cultural content which is based on people's psychology and behavior characteristics. This thesis also analysed the influences fromgovernment, law and citizen.
