With the fast pace of high-speed railway construction in our country, many embankment and berm retaining walls will be constructed to satisfy the railway route planning when high-speed railway passes the mountainous and hills area. The magnitudes and distributions of the earth pressure against rigid retaining wall on the high-speed train load have been paid little attenation. So,the influence of high-speed train load on retaining wall should be researched imminency. In this dissertation, model tests and numerical analyses are performed to research the magnitudes and distributions of the earth pressures against rigid retaining wail on high-speed train load.First, 3D finite element computations are performed when considering the wall-soil friction and the deformation and strength characteristics of soil to have an improved understanding of the influence of some facts on the earth pressures against rigid retaining wail on the different loads—dead load of soil back of wall, conversion load of soil column and the conversion load of dynamic train load.To gracity wall the facts include the height of retaining wall.the distance between load and wall and the thickness of subgrade on the top of wall. And to balance weight retaining wall the facts are the height of retaining wall, the distance between load and wall and the width of weighting desk. The earth pressure problems are analyzed by using a constitutive model of "Duncan—Chang" soil. A method to describe the frictional behavior between soil and wall is proposed using the 3D non- thickness Goodman element.A ravity retaining wall and a balance weight retaining wall their height is 3m have been built to perform the full scale model test. On the modle tests, the different earth pressure against retaining wall has been compared on static and dynamic load. Then the variation of earth pressure be researched on different load value and distance between load and wall.In the end, some conclusion have been summarized based on the research result and these conclusion can provide some reference to the design and construction.
