Vehicle suspension system plays an extremely import part in improving vehicle ride comfort and handling. It should not only isolate higher frequency roadway inputs, which influence the ride comfort, but also make the body and wheel closely follow the frequency vertical roadway inputs, which influence the handling.The vehicle suspension system is classified into the passive suspension, semi-active suspension system and active suspension system. Although the active suspension system removes the restrictions of the passive suspension system, its cost in hardware is high. Therefore there are few actual active suspension system to be found on the vehicles. The semi-active suspension, as compromise between the conventional passive suspension system and active suspension system, can perform the function of active suspension system, but the requirements of the power is very few. So a variety of semi-active suspension system have been into practice.The key parts of semi-active suspension system are hydraulic dampers capable of adjusting damping force in accordance with driving conditions. On the base of it, the paper designs moveable valve adjustable dampers. Its structure simple, the control is effective. The paper mainly studies the development present situation and application situation about semi-active suspension system.
