With the rapid development of economy in China, vehicle volume is increasing heavily. Therefore, the consequent traffic problems of traffic congestion, traffic accidents and environment pollution become a headache of city managers.Intersection as the hinge of city traffic system, vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles join together in the intersection. Because the direction of vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles are different, there are many traffic interferences and the traffic conflicts in the intersections, so that it easily results in traffic accident. After research on the causes of traffic conflicts in intersections, it is found out that turning-vehicles are the mainly cause of traffic conflicts. Therefore, it is important to carry out research on traffic organization optimization method of turning-vehicle flows at at-grade intersections, which becomes the keys to relieve traffic jams and traffic accidents.The traffic organization optimization methods of turning-vehicle flows at at-grade intersections, include its advantages, disadvantages, available conditions and application notices, are chosen as research object in the paper. In addition, in the paper great attention is paid on the advantages and disadvantages of the waiting area for left-turn vehicles at signalized intersections, and the capacity and application principle of advance right-turn vehicle flows, which are put in practice but lack of theory supports.The research is composed of interrelated chapters as follows:Traffic organization optimization methods of turning-vehicle flows at at-grade intersections is the application of traffic organization optimization ideas, methods and principles, thus, in order to provide theoretical elements to traffic organization optimization, paper summarize and conclude the ideas, methods, principle and regular means about the traffic organization optimization.
