Earthquake-induced building settlement is the common seismicphenomenon in saturated sand foundation. Earthquake-induced buildingsettlement especially heterogeneous settlement can lead to structureinclining and fracture. So, the serious disasters induced by buildingsettlement is paid more attention now and study on earthquake-inducedbuilding settlement become frontier project of seismic resistance ofgeotechnical engineering.Since the earthquake-induced differential settlement of building hasbecome an important cause, the mechanism of that and affect factors havenot been solved properly now.State-of -art researches on the subject are conducted and, moreover,study on the important problem of the relationship among theinput-dynamics stress at foundation-pore pressure at foundation-buildingsettlement. The main content in this paper are:1. The mechanism of earthquake-induced differential settlement ofbuilding on the liquescent subsoil is revealed by post earthquake analysis.Some critical problems to solve and discuss are conducted from therevelation.2. The design of liquefiable soil-structure interaction shaking tabletest is completed, the preparation of subsoil and building and modelselection and arrangement of sensors.3. The pore pressure, dynamics stress of foundation and settlementare analyzed in this paper. Through comparison analysis of pore pressure,dynamics stress and settlement histories at symmetrical places,development order and differentiation with free-field are observed.4. Base input acceleration, dynamics stress , pore pressure atstructure foundation at the same building side are analyzed to comparewith structure settlement response, including corresponding relationshipbetween input acceleration and dynamics stress,dynamics stress and porepressure,dynamics stress and settlement,pore pressure and settlement.The essence is revealed preliminary by the intrinsic order.5. Direction and content to study in the future are made clear andbecome the basis of the research in the future.
