The computer simulation has been an important scientific research means in modern theory of mechanisms with the development of the computer application technology. It plays an important role in feasibility demonstration, engineering design and seeking the preferred plan. The research on kinematic simulation has been developed to three-dimension solid at present. The method of solid kinematic simulation of the linkages on the SolidWorks platform is studied on the base of study on structure decomposition and kinematic analysis of the linkages. The solid kinematic simulation system of the linkages is achieved integrateing kinematic analysis system of Object-Oriented with function of feature model of SolidWorks. This system can provide exact reference data for the design of linkages and its automaticity is high in modeling and analysis.Firstly, a template base of components is developed using the powerful function of parameterized feature model of SolidWorks, and then virtual assembly of linkages is performed. The assembly information is extracted from assemblies and stored using logical data structure. The information is transformed into the topological information.Based on the basic composition of the mechanism and type transformation theory, the linkages mechanism is naturally decomposed by adopting the methodology and technology of Object-Oriented. The appropriate classes grade is built up. Then the objects required in all classes are determined and the definitions of all classes are implemented with C++ language. Thus, the design of the software system is completed.Kinematic analysis can be accomplished automatically according to the arithmetic of type transformation theory. Combining with the interface function of simulation in SolidWorks, automatization of solid kinematic simulation of the linkages on the SolidWorks platform is realized.Applying SolidWorks as the platform, using the tool of Visual C++6.0 and SolidWork API, the software system is achieved through programming. And the examples about analysis and simulation of the linkages mechanism using this software system are given.
