DC cabinet is an important equipment to provide DC electrical source for signal equipments, safeguard and automation devices, emergency illumination and bakers. It can provide DC electrical source even in the time when AC electrical source is out of work. DC cabinet is widely used in waterpower, thermal power, all kinds of transformer substations and other users of DC cabinet (Such as oil chemical plant, mine and railroad). The reliability and security directly influence on the reliability and security of power system's work. The storage battery is the heart of DC cabinet, so provide accurate maintenance for storage battery is the core work of DC cabinet.The fieldbus is a kind of network with the characteristic of digital communication, bidirectional transmission and multi-branchy structure to connect intelligent equipment and automatization system. It is the compositive production of computer technology, communication technology and control technology. It is a kind of new mode with open-direct and distributable characteristic. It is a focus of automatization domain in modern time.The traditional DC cabinet charge all batteries in it as a whole through three ways: main charge mode, float charge mode and even charge mode. Charged by these ways for a long time, some of batteries will turn bad much early than expect. To overcome the shortcoming of the traditional DC cabinet, this article supposed a new design of DC cabinet. In this design, an exclusive control module is equipped for every battery. By this way, every battery can be charged individually and their individual need can be easily satisfied. To manage all these control modules, a management module is designed and all the modules is connected by the 485 bus and MODBUS protocol, which form a control system base on field bus.
