| Shenzhen City, located at the south middle littoral of Guangdong Province of China, has a total land size of 2020 km~2, which extends from longitude 113° 46' east to 114° 37' east and from altitude 22° 27'north to 22° 52'north. It also has a subtropical oceanic climate. Shenzhen has built a wonderful environment as the city construction developed rapidly. In the 21st century, Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government called for a higher-standard city development. They confirmed the goal to build an internationalized metropolis and the functional orientation of being an ecological city. As the city's population increases quickly, the program of Shenzhen's green-land system is now facing a new challenge.Road greening is an important part of the city greening system and plays a crucial role. To study the developing direction of the construction of Shenzhen's greening-road landscape, author went to Shenzhen's typical roads and did some fieldwork and data searching. Based on personal work and summing-up of the successful experiences and existing problems of the construction of Shenzhen greening-road landscapes, developing direction and some strategic plans are presented as followings:1. The successful experiences of Shenzhen City greening-road landscapes are: 1) Taking the advanced success from home and abroad, greening-road landscapes were programmed and designed with higher criteria and leading in advance. 2) Emphasized humanity in the construction of the greening-road and took the way of constructing city ecological roads. 3) Allocated the plants according to the local climate, adopted many local species and introduced some new varieties. 4) Selected the different types of green lands and built a few characteristic arteries. 5) Invested a lot on greening, reduced cost to maintain later.2. The existing problems of the construction of Shenzhen greening-road landscapes: there are many same or similar greening-road landscapes; the designation of the plant landscapes are lack of artistic ideas; there is no variety of tree species along the sideways; the plants grow too old; The plant's matching proportion is not appropriate.3. Therefore, the designation and construction of Shenzhen greening-road landscapes should be harmoniously connected with city's history and culture; combine with the city's geological situation, natural scenes, and its orientation; stick on the development direction of ecology, humanity, solidness, and low-cost-maintenance; "more trees and less grass"; introduce and develop more new species; increase more local species; enrich greening-road landscapes. At the same time, pay more attention to maintenance work of city road greening and improve the professional level and quality of maintenance work to create the unique ecological city landscapes of southern subtropical regions.
