For the loaded structure system, we should not only care about its critical load, but also care about its post-buckling performance. It is necessary and also important for the tracing analysis of whole loading procedure. However the traditional static analysis may be invalid, because the effect of dynamic local instability has not been considered. The dynamic propagation of local snap-through of single-layer reticulated shells with imperfections is discussed considering geometric and material nonlinearities in this paper. Through parameter programming language APDL in finite element program ANSYS, a procedure for modeling this phenomenon is developed. The critical point in the proposed procedure is that the effect of dynamic snap-through is represented by providing appropriate initial velocities at the nodes in which snap-through has occurred and equivalent mass at the loaded nodes. Using this procedure, the likelihood of progressive is evaluated. In addition, some numerical investigations have also been presented together with the measure to preventing progressive collapse.
