It is very common that the hydraulic fill technique is used in harbor and hydraulicengineerings, such as making lands and reinforcing levees. But it has not beenreported previously that the new sediment earth in river was carried up with thetechnique, then used in levee construction with general rolling method after a periodof natural construction. The hydraulic fill earth has unique characteristics, and mustmeet the needs of the construction when the earth is used in levee construction. Andthe constructed levee must also meet the needs of the security and seepage stability invarious conditions. The hydraulic fill earth levee construction had been successfullyrealized in test levee segments of Tianjin harnessing project for Haihe rivermainstream.In this thesis, the feasibility and security of the levee constructions with thehydraulic fill earth were evaluated in combination with the actual conditions of the testlevee segments in the project.(1) The physical and mechanical properties of the hydraulic fill earth wereanalyzed statistically, which provides the basis for design research.(2) The seepage analysis calculation to the hydraulic fill earth levees were doneby using approximate formula and finite element methods, and the seepage stabilityfor the levees in combination with the result of the destructiveness model test of thehydraulic fill earth seepage.(3) The resistant sliding safety factors for the levees in various conditions werecalculated with the Sweden arc sliding method, and the whole stability of the leveeswas evaluated.(4) The settlement, deformation and stress levels for the levees were analyzedwith the Drucher-Prager elesto-plas model in the ANSYS FEM software.(5) The settlements of the levees were observed experimentally.The calculation analysis and actual observation show that the test levee segmentsare successfully constructed in the harnessing project for Haihe river mainstream,which provides a new method for the levee construction engineering. The method hasa very high property to price ratio under the situation of lacking soil resource andemphasizing environmental protection today, and it's worth while to spread and apply.
