FRP bars have gained increased attention with characters of lightweight,high strength, strong resistance to corrosion and fatigue loadings. Externalprestressing is one of the most effective methods for repairing and strengtheningthe existing buildings. FRP bars can be finding their ways in the externallyprestressed concrete structures for its good characters. This paper mainly studiesthe flexural behavior of the prestressed concrete beams with CFRP bars. Theprogram includes such researches as follows:1. Experimental research on the anchorage for CFRP bar under static loadings.The anchorage assembly for CFRP bar consists of QM anchorage and steelsleeve. The experimental research indicates that the QM anchorage assemblyperformed well. It can also make use of the equipment for prestressing in advanceand has better values in engineering.2. Experimental research on the prestreseed concrete beams with CFRP barsunder static loadings.The flexural behavior of four prestreseed concrete beams with CFRP bars isstudied under static loadings. Load-displacement curves of PC beams withexternal CFRP bars indicate that this kind of beams achieves higher ductility;thestrength of CFRP bars is adversely affected by the draping angles, so designerstake account of it.3. Calculation for the concrete beams prestreseed with CFRP barsThis paper calculates cracking and ultimate moment for the prestreseedconcrete beams with CFRP bars according to the code for design of concretestructures. The calculation can meet the engineering requirements.
