The arch bridges are among the most competitive types of modern long-spanbridges. As more and more attention are paid to the architectural beauty of bridges andthe span as well as the complexity of components section are enlarged, constructionmonitoring plays a significant role in guaranteeing the successful building of the archbridges. The purpose of construction monitoring is to understand the structuralcapabilities in the construction process, especially those of the key components aboutinner force and deformation so that timely adaptation can be made. Consequently, construction monitoring is one of the most crucial steps in ensuring the safety inconstruction and quality of the bridges. This thesis is set in a finished reinforcedconcrete arch bridge with specially-shaped section——two hinged deck arch whichcrosses JingJinTang highway in Tianjin development area. The thesis aims at studyingand solving the problems about the inner force and deformation of key components soas to provide theoretical proofs to the construction monitoring. The first point studied in this paper is to discuss the major problems encounteredin the construction of the long-span arch bridge with specially-shaped section. Withthe help of finite element analyzing software——ANSYS, the dimensional model ofthe bridge has been formed and static features have been analyzed. So influence linesabout inner force and deflection of each component have been put forward and stressvalues in different processes of construction and under the effect of live load havebeen analyzed, providing an evidence for fixing sections of those sensors andconfirming the position of each point. Furthermore natural frequency and mode of thebridge have been provided by the dynamic analysis of the whole structure. Therelationships between natural frequency and material features, arch rigidity, strut railas well as support condition have been discussed. The other point studied in this paper is the construction monitoring and capacityexperiment of the long-span arch bridge. With the advanced measure equipment, theinner force and deformation of key components during and after construction can beput on track and under control. The stress variation regularities of each componentduring and after construction and dynamic features after construction are achieved. The results of measurement are compared with the theoretical ones. Therefore morepractical suggestion of improvement can be made for both design and construction. Conclusion shows that it is feasible to utilize the calculation pattern to analyzethe long-span arch bridge with specially-shaped section. Key problems of cabletension testing and concrete stress measurement in the monitoring are successfullysolved. Thus the performances (rigidity and bearing capacity) are proved to meet therequirements of standard.
