Abstract/Summary:
The arch bridges with v-shpaed pier have excellent strucutrual performances but behave in a complex way. Based on the design of Xiaolan River Bridge, this thesis developed an integrated finite element model using the commercial software MIDAS/CIVIL2006. The deformation and stresses during the construction process with 65 stages were analyzed step by step. Structural behaviors under various loads combinations during service phase were also calculated, particularly the time-dependent effects on the deformation and member forces of the bridge. Characteristics of free vibration of the bridge were determined using subspace iterative method. Then, earthquake responses of the structure were studied by means of response spectrum method and nonlinear time history analysis. Main factors influencing the stability were studied during the construction course and finished state. According to three construction schemes, which include removal of temporary supports and temporary tied links, as well as prestressing of the v-shaped pier, stress and deformations of the v-shaped pier are computed. By comparison of the results, optimal construction scheme was identified. At last, a detailed solid FEM model of the V-shaped pier was established using ANASYS and its detailed stress and strain were analyzed. Therefore, the static, dynamic, and eigenvalue stability behaviors of this kind of bridge were understood comprehensively.
