Multimedia And Architecture Design

The multimedia and internet are burgeoning technologies and cultures. They havecome into architecture and have deep influence both on ideas and methods inarchitectural design. Along the factors of western architecture trends, that is socialbackground, force of science and technology, effects of social science and modernarts, study of relations between multimedia and architecture is evolved. Multimediahas the features of integration and interactivity and interactivity is the substantialfeature;Internet is the rising "4th media". For the first time, the relations betweenmultimedia, medium and architecture are discussed in architecture fields and theconcept of architecture interactivity is analyzed and educed. With comparing to digitalarchitecture concepts, the feature of interactive architecture different from traditionalarchitecture is discovered and that is efficient circulation of information. Also, therealistic significance of interactive architecture is emphasized due to its sociality.Then basic theories of interactivity aesthetics are applied to architecture;theories andpractice of interactive arts are introduced;influences of interactive arts on architectureare posted. According to aspects of architecture interactivity, contemporary interactivearchitecture instances are reviewed and commented;the formal and technologicalfeatures of multimedia architecture are induced. Whereafter, the features betweentraditional and multimedia methods are compared, and several sorts of interactivedesign are introduced, such as virtual reality, architectural evaluation software,information architectural design software and network service, exchange andcooperation. Faced with practical problems of interactive architecture design in ourcountry, the current scheme of multi-"media" design is put forward. To view theprospect of interactive design, it can be predicted that via multimedia and internet,architects will interact with the public really and truly, and that is the ultimate goal ofinteractive architectural design, which is efficient circulation of design information.
