In the nonlinear bending theory of circular sandwich plates, nonlinear bending ofthe plates under the action of axisymmetric uniformly distributed line load is adifficult problem. In this paper, applying the B-spline function method , a newsolution of this problem has been obtained. The cubic B-spline function is used as thetrial function in the paper. Because of its discontinuous smoothness, the function isvery flexible for the problem of the function approach. The Newton-iterative methodis used to solve the nonlinear differential equation of circular sandwich plates. Theconvergence velocity of method is very quick. Four boundary conditions such asrigidly clamped edge, clamped but free to slip edge, simply hinged edge and simplysupported edge are considered. The nonlinear bending of the circular sandwich plates under the action ofaxisymmetric uniformly distributed line load is studied firstly. In the paper, differentloads and their position, different boundary conditions ,and different cut parameter areall considered. Some examples are calculated and by comparing the results with theperturbation method, the validity and some excellences of this method ,such as widerconvergent range, higher precision and less amount of computing time, aredemonstrated. In addition, another instance that the circular sandwich plates under the action ofboth axisymmetric uniformly distributed line load and axisymmetric uniformlydistributed load ,is also calculated and analyzed. Through the result ,we can see therelationship of the two different load when the center deflection is zero. All of above contents have been programmed and tested on the computer .Theprogram is simple in use and has good currency.
