In this paper the Kirchhoff approximation is first introduced, which is used to calculate the BRDF characteristics of the satellite's adiabatic and solar energy boards. Because their spectrums can not obtained exactly and the Kirchhoff approximation can solve this problem without the spectrum. In the second section of this paper, the first-order and second-order small slope approximations and Kirchhoff approximation are used to calculate the RCS or DRC of the metallic and dielectric materials with real or complex permittivity and permittivity. Then the results are compared with the experimental data provided by G. Berginc's paper. The scattering characteristics with the different incident angle are discussed and the validity of every approximation is given.Since the RMS height of the sea surface is relatively large and its roughness is continuous, the modified two-scale method is used to calculate its electromagnetic scattering of the sea surface. The variety of backscattering coefficients with varying of the wind speed, the wind area, the incident angle, the azimuth angle, and the polarization is discussed. The arithmetic of the electromagnetic scattering are classified according to the model, dimensions of the rough surface that can be solved and the theory of approximation. They are linked to a concision interface by the dynamic link library technology.
