The electric fuel pump is an essential part of the motorcars' fuel-supplying system with the function of aspirating the fuel from the gasoline tank and feeding it to the cylinders of engine via oil atomizer. Therefore, its quality has a great effect on the entire car's performance. So in the process of fuel pump equipment, online performance testing should be conducted in order to improve the fuel pump's performance, ensure the high quality, avoid wasting, and reduce the production cost. Based on the project of fuel pump assembling line in Zhengjiang Yuhuan Changzheng Motorcar Fittings Factory, the author made a deep research on the electric fuel pump, and put forward the idea of fuel pump pretest for the first time.As it is shown in this thesis, the fuel pump pretest testing-bench plays an important role in testing the fuel pump production, which includes two parts: the equipping process and semi-manufactured products' testing process. In the former, it requires equipping the electric motor rotor and the pump cover on the pump body, and the key point here is to ensure the pump cover's assemble precision. Owing to this, it demands highly of the frame design in the test-bench. In the latter, after finishing the equipment of pump cover, electrifying the motor and let it prepare to operate, it requires testing the rotate speed ,current and voltage of motor's electricity startup, namely, pretesting the performance of the semi-manufactured fuel pump.The main research task of this thesis is as follows: by analyzing the electric fuel pump and motor's principles, it probes into the influence of the clearance between the pump impeller and pump covers on the pump performance, analyses the possible faulty operation in the startup of fuel pump motor, and develops a fuel pump pretest-bench which is a cross between pump equipping and semi-manufactured fuel pump motor's performance-testing.In this thesis, the project of designing the fuel pump pretest-bench's hardware and software is elaborated. As the pretest-bed is a producing-testing procedure in the fuel pump equipping assembling line, it should be capable of enduring a long-term testing. Therefore, the essential principle of this design is to improve the reliability. Meanwhile, in this project, operators' security, comfort and their reducing operating procedures are fully taken into consideration, with the aim of achieving the automatization and intelligentization of the pretest-bench operating.Circling computer, equipped with peripheral interface circuit, magnifier andsensor, a closed loop controlling hardware system is formed, which function is to complete the equipment of pump cover, to collect and analyze the parameters such as the motor's running speed, current, voltage, etc., and finally to control the cylinders, and other operating parts.The software part is developed by means of Visual C++ 6.0, and is mainly composed of five modules: system setting module, hardware controlling module, data displaying module, data processing module and help module. Each module has its own function and is independent of others. By online debugging and stimulation testing on some functions, it is proved that this system has the characteristics of user-friendly interface, reliable operation and facilitated maintenance. That is to say, it has reached the demand basically.At present, this pretest-bed is successfully applied in the collaborator factory's fuel pump assembling line.
