Investigation And Predict Of Container Ship's Maneuverability

Recently, among the marine accidents owning to the ship's maneuverability are more and more, therefore if we can predict the ship's maneuverability in the initial design, it is helpful in the shipbuilding, and it is also an important content with IMO maneuverability resolution if we can predict the ship's maneuverability properly. This paper will induce and settle the performances based on some results people have obtained and provide some methods by computer program, especially obtain some key parameters about effecting maneuverability.This paper includes two parts. The first part is the theoretical analysis of ship's maneuverability. Based on the MMG equation and some main parameters, such as principal dimensions of ship, ship type and propeller size etc are known, this part applied some numerical estimate formula to calculate the ship's maneuverability in the deep and shallow water and introduced ship maneuverability criteria correspondingly. The content is assigned in the paper from the first chapter to the sixth chapter.The second part is the predication of ship's maneuverability of turning circle and Z-maneuver trials by applying to be given theory therefore. From the calculation results it can be seen that it is impossible to predict maneuverability exactly with theoretical calculation and systemic model test. But the precision of the theoretical calculation method can satisfy the ship's design demand in ship initial design.All above work has been finished in the computer. The calculating example provided in the paper is referenced for the readers.
