Since pile foundation shares nearly 50% of fabrication cost of harbors and/or ocean structures, design of pile foundation is a major part in the entire structure design. So the appropriate choose of number, type and arrangement of piles, as well as the proper analytical method is critical to the return on ports and ocean structures investment.With the development of modern engineering technology, lateral load applied to pile structures and induced lateral displacement are becoming much greater, thus more and more analytical methods are deduced for lateral loaded pile groups and a general summary of these methods is given in this paper.This paper focuses on the most widely used m-method and establishes an understandable and effective computing program based on it. By doing so, the displacement and stress of piles in high-level platform supported on piles are calculated and the effects of the value of m on single pile and pile group are also analyzed. Moreover, the m-method based computing program is also applied to analyze the foundation of mooring dolphin in the design of a mooring dolphin project in Zhonshan.ANSYS is used in FEM analysis for pile group. By this means, the effects of diameter, length, space and number of lateral loaded piles on platform displacement and group action of piles are analyzed and a conclusion which could be helpful for the design and engineering is finally drew by the author.
