With the fast development of power system, it is more and more urgent to evaluate the real-time security and reliability of the system and thus research on the algorithm of operational reliability of power network and software implementation is focused attentively.This paper reports on the real engineering application of operational reliability evaluation a model of operational reliability evaluation based on a distributed algorithm, with a view to the strict specification of the speed of operational reliability evaluation. This model adopts non-sequential Monte-Carlo probability sampling simulation as the primary method of operational reliability evaluation. It realizes parallel algorithm of operational reliability evaluation with decomposing or aggregating of three steps of Monte-Carlo's (system state selection, analysis of each selected state and updating of reliability indices) according to the characteristics of distributed method. In addition, This paper discusses different methods of evaluation of power system operational reliability and indices. After the relation between power flow calculation model and generation dispatching model is discussed in the simulation method, this paper chooses dc power flow model and linear optimization method in the analysis of each selected state, which improve the computational speed effectively.The assessment software realized in this paper has passed in one provincial power grid's operation test. The test result indicates that the software can assess the present risk state of the system effectively. Meanwhile, compared with the operation result of the traditional unit-computer operational reliability assessment software, speed of the software increases several times, which is proportional to the count of terminal machines that participate in calculation. It takes the accelerated effect of distributed system effectively.In addition, reliability graph information issuing system based on web is developed in order to meet the real-time result issuing requirement of power system operational reliability assessment. Through testing in another provincial power grid, it reveals better practicability and stability.
