Traditional instruments are still mostly used in teaching laboratory at present in Chinese university. With development of science and technology and renewal of content of courses in university education, traditional instruments expose some disadvantage day by day. In order to improve the experiment equipment and level, reform the teaching method of the experiment, upgrade the content of courses of the experiment. Introducing virtual instrument into experiment teaching is the best way to solve this problemTwo most important problems of main researching in this thesis are the design for data collecting system and the design for academic experiment.The content of the thesis includes:1. Study the hardware composing of experimental system based upon virtual instruments. After analyzing virtual instrument characteristic, introduce NI PCI6024E, USB6008, PCI2003's (made in no-NI) operation method emphatically, introduce the application of NI-DAQ and NI-VISA.2. Design a data collection module with serial port based on microcontroller. The thesis explains the circuit principle and program designing in detail.3. Design several typical experiments for "Measurement and Test for Mechanical Engineering ", including: frequency spectrum analysis, frequency response of digital filter, corelation analysis, transducer's static calibration, vibration experiment. Each experiment has adopted three kinds of data collecting system separately.4. Study the soundboard's application in the virtual instrument academic experiment.5. Study the problem of using LabVIEW's network function to realize the remote experiment.
