| Modern road transportation is developed to the direction of the highspeed, over-loading, great traffic quantity and traffic convergence, whichbring forward the higher demands to the asphalt mixture pavementperformance. Because the asphalt mixture pavement has the particularsuperiority, it has a very important status in the pavement, but in fact thereare many questions of the skills and quality in acting, for example, theforepart strict disrepair, too short life-span, surface performance, ruttingand critical crack, which puts forward to austere challenge to pavementworkers. For settling these existent questions in the asphalt pavement, everycountry researchers have been studying a great number of works, and gainedmore harvests. It is one of the effective ways to join fibers into the commonasphalt mixture.This paper gets the results of physical index and road performanceafter glass fiber added in the asphalt mixture. The results show that roadperformance , such as the high temperature stability characteristic, the lowtemperature crack resistance, the water stability all have been advanced.This paper contains five chapters.The first chapter introduced the studying background and studyingcontents. It narrated the developing history and studying .It is in Canadaand American where fiber materials added into asphalt concrete in sixties oflast century. Decades of years went by, there are special fiber materialsutilized in asphalt concrete and equipment in these countries. In the ancientof our country, rough stem was added into the soil materials used in houseconstruction. It is a kind of fiber in fact. In modern times, our country islagged in the aspect of fiber reinforced asphalt concrete. There is no intactdesign method and adding craft.The second part talks about the mechanism of fiber reinforced asphaltmixture. Based on the analysis of related theory abroad and in, throughobservation and analysis of indoor experiments, this paper discusses thereinforced mechanism. We deem that the reinforcing mechanism containsthe following aspects: (1) Conjunction and crack resistant effect. (2)Interface reinforcing effect. (3) Stabilization effect . (4) Tenacity increasingeffect.The third chapter introduced the test of glass fiber reinforced asphaltconcrete. The test program is mainly based on the test methods of normalasphalt concrete in order to compare the performance index of glass fiberreinforced asphalt concrete and normal asphalt concrete.We can get the following results from Marshall test. After glass fiberadded, the optimum asphalt dosages, the porosity ratio, the materialaggregate clearance ratio, flowvalue etc all increased but the densitydecreased. The reasons that caused these changes have been analyzed in thetext.We can get the following results from the test of road performance. Theglass fiber has obvious influence to the high temperature stabilitycharacteristic, the low temperature crack resistance, the water stability.Although the road performance of reinforced fiber asphalt concrete needlong time test, a great of indoor experiment show the mixing of glass fibercould prolong the using life of a highway, decrease the maintenance cost butincrease the first investing cost. So it has bright background for using.The fourth chapter proposes the component design. The componentdesign method of the asphalt mixture is established based on the primaryhighway performance. The rutting and water stability test directly makesthe range of the asphalt and fiber dosage, which is accorded with theproduction of hot asphalt mixture on the spot and can decrease workloadand increase efficiency.The fifth chapter is conclusion and forecast. It concludes the worksthat completed in this text and gives proposal for the forecast works. |
