Reflective Intensity Modulated Fiber Optic Sensor(RIM-FOS) is applied tocollect position signal of the rotor due to the characters of the gyroscope. As animportant member of fiber optic sensors, the reflective intensity modulated fiber opticsensor ( ab. RIM-FOS) has won widely attention in the past forty years because of itssimple configuration, low cost, good reliability and flexibility. It has also been widelyused in many industrial measuring situations such as displacement sensor in vibrationmeasurement, as proximity sensor in robotics and automation control, as the readoutelement in a pressure sensor, etc. In this dissertation, several key problems are studiedsystematically, which include the reflective light field distribution, the mathematicalmodels of RIM-FOS, the test on the sensor property. The main research concerns onthe following lists.1. Firstly, the mathematical model of fiber pair with factors of reflectorshape and inclination is established. Then, a series of rules of theinfluence on intensity modulation property caused by fiber parameters,the factors of reflector shape and inclination are studied.2. The mathematical models corresponding to the tri-fiber sensors areestablished.3. Property curves of the tri-fiber sensor are obtained by the test withdifferent reflectors and under different temperatures. The results provethe rules that the tri-fiber sensor is able to avoid the effect of thedifference of the reflectors and temperatures.
