In this paper,the braking energy regeneration system of city bus is studied. By usingthe energy regeneration technology,the kinetic energy generated during braking isrecovered and then released when the bus speeds up. In this way,the city bus can reducefuel consumption and the associated emissions.By analyzing the special driving cycle of city bus and comparing with different typeof regenerative schemes,this paper proposed a system scheme which is using the hydraulicenergy storage and parallel connection-driving techniques.The hydraulic system uses the bladder hydraulic accumulator and the pump/motor asthe energy storage and transformation part,so it has compact structure and the rapidreaction. On the basic of the dynamics analysis to the braking process,the parameters ofhydraulic system are figured out. Through simulation,the performance of hydraulic systemis demonstrated. The results show that the energy regeneration system is effective toimprove the fuel economy of city bus.Based on the parallel connection-driving structure and the given vehicle,thepower-train of this system which includes electromagnetic clutch and odontoid chain driveis designed. So the controllability and reliability of the system are improved.In the paper,experimental design for braking energy regeneration system is alsoconstructed. According to national standard (GB/T12545.2-2001):circulation drivingpatterns of city,the experiment methods are discussed.
