Along with the technical development, optics part microminiaturization will cause the discrete component inevitably to the array part development. In order to display the photon to take the information carrier has high velocity, parallelism, large capacity and huge interconnection ability, must develop, the rule arrangement, the light even micro-lens array crowdedly. But at present uses the array Yuan lens many is the cylinder or the hemispheroid, although uses the hexagon to arrange its space factor (light area and total area ratio) can achieve about 90.7 %, but still could not elimination the light information loss which go through among the lenses. And it was impossible fundamentally to solve the question which enhances the light area and reduces the loss of light information.This article's aims to enhance space factor, first develops the square self-focusing lens, and proposes two kinds of methods: First, carries on the ionic exchange then makes the cylindrical glass rod to the square glass;Second, processes firstly the square glass then carries on the ionic exchange. The process of making is relatively easy. The ionic exchange is very complex, because it involves the exchange time, which is long or short will be able to affect the optical quality of self-focusing lens. The ionic exchange of cylindrical glass rod was the mature theory, but the square glass rod will not be solved. Which passes through many experiments to tryto find out the condition which need of square glass rod. Square rod which be made using two kinds of methods, and makes it to the sample. Carrying on the test separately to gain optics characteristic, and then carries on the comparison. Through the comparison knows that should select second kind of method to make self-focusing lens.In order to make square self-focusing lenses Yuan array (SSLA), we select the second kind of method to make the square lens, because SSLA is made of several, several dozens, even several hundred lenses. In order to acquire guarantee SSLA with good optics characteristic, which must use the same good performance lenses. Therefore, taking a series of well-proportioned measure in the craft. For example: uniform glassrod dimensional, Glass optics uniformity, Ionic exchange craft uniformity (salt bath density, temperature, time and so on) and so on. To linage square self-focusing lenses to the array according to the certain rule, and to make the simple according to the condition of the image, then to analyze the array image situation. The experiment proves that the success of making the square self-focusing lens indicates the direction to SSLA, and obtains that the difficult question to enhance space factor of SSLA can be able to be solved.
